Summer Steps Tutoring offers a unique opportunity to support children’s academic growth while they enjoy the enriching experiences of camp. We offer on- site tutoring before, during and after camp hours. We provide general tutoring as well as specialized support from Wilson Dyslexia Practitioners. Our program operates for 7 weeks during the summer, Tuesday through Thursday, giving you the flexibility to work up to 21 days.

We offer services for children entering grades K–5.

After SST conducts the initial intake interview with a client, we will reach out to you if you are a good match. Once matched, we will provide the client’s information, and you will then be able to communicate with them directly.

After determining the client’s preferred tutoring time (before, during, or after the camp day), SST will contact you to see if the schedule fits your availability. Session frequency will vary based on the client’s needs. We will aim to schedule your sessions back-to-back for convenience.

Sessions will be offered Tuesday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the client’s respective camp. We will not offer services on Mondays or Fridays. Sessions will be one-on-one and will range from 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the program and client’s request. Group sessions are not offered.

This is dependent on your availability. Once a client’s needs and schedule are determined, SST will contact you to confirm whether the arrangement works for you.

We understand that summer is a time for relaxation and family. However, if you anticipate being unavailable for more than two weeks during the summer, SST may not be the best fit for your schedule. If you miss a few sessions, it is your responsibility to coordinate with the client to arrange a make-up session.

When we connect you with a client, we will provide details about what resources are available at the tutoring site and what materials you will need to bring for your session.

SST will share the results of the intake interview with you, and we will work together to create a plan tailored to the specific needs of the client.

After each session, please send a brief text or email to the family summarizing the lesson and the child’s performance. You may also include suggestions for practice between sessions to enhance effectiveness.

Upon completion of a session, the client will pay SST directly through Venmo. SST will then transfer your payment within 24 hours.

You are responsible for communicating with the client to arrange a make-up session. Clients are informed of SST’s cancellation policy:

Cancellation Policy:

1. Cancellation Notice

• 24+ Hours in Advance: No charge.
• Less Than 24 Hours: 50% of the session fee.
• No-Show: Full session fee.

2. Cancellations must be communicated to the assigned tutor.

3. Rescheduling

• With 24+ Hours Notice: No fee; an alternative time will be arranged.
• Within 24 Hours: Subject to availability; a $15 rescheduling fee may apply.

4. Rescheduling requests should be made through the assigned tutor.
